Sunvest installs rooftop solar on homes across Peninsular Malaysia, under Solar ATAP — the scheme that replaced Net Energy Metering on 1 January 2026. A domestic installation is capped at 5 kW single-phase or 15 kW three-phase. The engineering design is done in-house, by the same engineering that handles grid interconnection design and electrical substations up to 132 kV.

The group has delivered 270+ installations; 28 of them are published in the portfolio with capacity, sector and grid scheme, in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Putrajaya (FT), Perak, Melaka. The sequence below is the one the group runs on a commercial rooftop, at the scale of a single house.

Assessment

We look at the roof — orientation, pitch, shading, structure and the existing electrical intake — and read the consumption behind a recent TNB bill. A system size is derived from that assessment, not the other way round.

Engineering and design

Sizing, layout, string design and electrical integration are done in-house. Equipment is procured through tier-1 approved suppliers, the same supply chain the group's commercial and industrial projects are built from.

Installation and commissioning

Mounting, DC and AC works, protection and the metering interface, then testing and commissioning. Sunvest carries full turn-key EPC responsibility for what it builds, and a house is delivered under that same responsibility.

Monitoring and maintenance

24/7 remote plant monitoring, preventive maintenance programmes, corrective response and spare-parts management are established group services, run on a 25-year operating horizon. Ask which of them applies to a domestic system.

Solar ATAP

The scheme a home installs under.

Solar ATAP replaced Net Energy Metering on 1 January 2026. These are the rules that apply to a domestic installation.

The capacity cap

A domestic installation is capped at 5 kW single-phase or 15 kW three-phase. The cap, rather than the roof area, is often what sets the ceiling.

The ten-year contract

The contract runs ten years. Energy exported in excess of what the house consumes becomes an offset against the bill, on the same core principle Net Energy Metering used.

After the ten years

Once the term ends the installation is strictly for self-consumption: no offset and no roll-over on exported energy. That is worth designing for at the start rather than discovering later.

Who can apply

You must be a registered TNB consumer. An application is made after the system has been installed and commissioned, not before, and it is lodged through a registered photovoltaic service provider.

At domestic scale

What a large system teaches you about a small one.

The group's other work is commercial, industrial and utility-scale. Four things carry straight across to a house.

Sized to consumption, not to roof area

Energy yield studies and yield optimisation are part of how the group develops projects. On a house that means the system is sized against what the building actually consumes, and against the Solar ATAP cap, rather than against how many panels will physically fit.

The same procurement

Panels, inverters and balance of system come from tier-1 approved suppliers — the procurement route the group's commercial and industrial projects use. A house is a smaller order on the same supply chain, not a different one.

Electrical integration as a discipline

Grid interconnection design and electrical substations up to 132 kV sit inside the group's EPC scope. The habits that come with that work — protection, earthing, metering, documentation — do not get smaller when the system does.

Storage, if it earns its place

Energy storage integration and hybrid solutions are part of the same EPC scope. Whether storage makes sense on a particular house is a question the assessment answers, not an assumption to start from.
